On today’s Winter Solstice, this shortest day of the year, we honor the return of the sun. Without this big star, no life could exist–let alone the wonderful scenes enhanced on this planet by the sun’s particular angle.
Here are some of my favorite sun-enhanced photos from the past year.
Sun breaking through the fog in Acadia National Park
Fraxinus americana at sunset in eastern Maine
Sunset and moonrise over a Maine beaver pond
Alpenglow at sunrise in the Tetons
Lupines at sunrise along the Gros Ventre River, Wyoming
Sunrise in Zion National Park, Utah
